Barksy & The Ten Hundred Hounds Project.

​The Ten Hundred Hounds Project offers unique, custom-made Barksy-style dog portraits commissioned by families and linked through a social network of dog connections. With a limited number available and no advertising, the project aims to create an interconnected series of original paintings that are linked through the shared love of dogs.

Each piece is individually hand painted using professional grade acrylic paints on high quality, acid free stretched 24”x24” (or just under 61cm x 61cm) canvas.
All the paintings are in the ‘Barksy’ style with only colour and image differentiating them. The result is a collection of interrelated but individually unique paintings.

The idea of clusters of art united by local connections holds a special appeal to me. The humble establishments of dog groomers, pet cafes, dog walkers, and local parks serve as focal points for a social web that often goes unnoticed.

​To be able to have paintings, hanging in the homes of families connected by their beloved canine companions, nestled within a larger art project, is a thought that brings to mind the interconnectedness that these four-legged family members bring to our lives.

Growing up surrounded by dogs, I have always found solace in their presence and authenticity. In my experience, I have never encountered a dog that has lied to me, only on me.

The concept is that a family would commission a portrait of their dog in the projects distinctive style. They would work with the artist to select the best image and colour to suit their dog and home.

The project is word of mouth - no random or paid advertising - so homes with a painting from the series will be linked to their dog’s social network in some way. This will mean packs of dogs will have their portraits done in the Barksy style because they share a dog walker, a pet store, a local park, a vet, or social media group.

The end goal is a network of households each having an original painting that is part of an interconnected themed series linked only by their dogs.

Also I am only doing a limited number of these - once the quota is hit - no more original Barksy's and the Ten Hundred Hounds Project will close.

An individual painting can take upwards of a month from concept to completion. 
Using premium quality materials and traditionally painting each canvas the cost of a single finished piece is currently £449.00 plus shipping costs.

For the next couple of weeks anyone that locks in a commission for a Barksy Original will get the portrait for £299.00 plus shipping costs.

I can get an accurate shipping quote when I know where you are! Postage and Packaging in the UK is around £39.00 at the moment.
Also anyone commissioning a painting from outside the UK may be liable for customs charges that are not included in the above price. 

​The Barksy Commission Process

The commission process is really straight forward.

This is how it works:

1. Contact me with your interest in commissioning a painting of your furry friend. Send along some pictures of your beloved pet so I can get a sense of their unique characteristics and personality.
2. I'll get back to you with a personalized quote and estimated completion date. Once we agree on the details, I'll send over an agreement for you to review and sign. A non-refundable down payment is required to secure your spot on my schedule and purchase materials.
3. As I begin your painting, I'll keep you updated with progress photos and a request for the second payment.
4. Once your painting is complete, I'll send you final photos for your approval. I want to make sure you're completely thrilled with the finished piece.
5. After your final approval, I'll send a request for the last payment and ship the painting to you once it's dry and varnished.
